Emily Hrones Umland (Director) grew up in Needham and trained at Boston Ballet School. She then enjoyed a seven-year career as a professional ballet dancer with Nevada Ballet Theatre and Boston Ballet. Since 1997, she has directed and taught her Children's Summer Ballet program in Needham. In May 2001, she retired from the stage and expanded her program to form Charles River Ballet Academy, where she is the principal teacher. Emily loves helping each student become the best dancer he or she can be, while never losing sight of how important it is to enjoy every step of the way.

Kristin Beckwith has taught at Boston Ballet School for nearly thirty years where she has trained many successful professional ballet dancers including CRBA director, Emily Hrones Umland. Ms. Beckwith also directed her own ballet school prior to teaching at Boston Ballet. Ms. Beckwith blends strong technique into a flowing, lyrical class, so that her students can feel tangible technical progress while getting to really dance and be expressive in every class.

Robin Buratowski trained with San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, Regina Karoly in Italy, and the Virginia Ballet Company. She also studied ballet at Goucher College where she performed ballets staged and choreographed by Jean-Pierre Bonnefous. Ms. Robin's great dedication to the philosophy of CRBA, as well as her desire to foster an atmosphere of team building, help her to bring out the best in her students.

Andréa Mafra Gregori
is well versed in many ballet techniques including Vaganova, Royal Academy of Dancing, Cuban, and American Ballet Theatre methods. She had her own ballet school in Brazil for several years before moving to the Boston area and teaching at Boston Ballet School. Ms. Gregori will now be sharing her vast knowledge, talents, and energy with the students of CRBA.

Magdalena Gyftopolous
trained with Jose Mateo, Boston Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She then performed professionally with Jose Mateo's Ballet Theatre, as well as several modern companies. Students love Ms. Magda's friendly, patient, and methodical approach to class.

Samantha Kinn trained at Charles River Ballet Academy and Boston Ballet. She then performed with the Georgetown University Dance Company. In addition to teaching ballet, Ms. Samantha has her master's degree in education and teaches fifth grade. Samantha's love of dance and of teaching children spills over into each of her classes.

Erika Lambe-Holland
trained at Boston Ballet School and School of American Ballet and went on to dance professionally with Miami City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Boston Ballet. She has served on the faculty of Boston Ballet School, Walnut Hill School, and Boston Arts Academy. Ms. Erika brings her dynamic, creative energy and extensive professional performance experience to each of her classes.
